Street joins Trak Global
Trak Global has appointed Nick Street to a new role: Insurer Solutions & Claims Manager. The Crewe-based technology business, which created Carrot young driver insurance in 2012 and launched its mass-market telematics smartphone app in October, has made a number of senior hires in recent weeks.
Engineering specialist Nick, who has a claims background, joins Trak Global having spent eight years as national engineering and technical manager with The Cooperative Insurance and insurer chair of the Thatcham Engineering Technical Committee. Nick has also held senior positions with RBS Insurance.
Insurer division MD Bob Skerrett said “Nick will strengthen Trak Global’s ability to deliver benefits to our insurance partners through using telemetry data in the claims process”. He continued “Our systems are able to detect accidents and provide the data our partners need to make rapid assessments of cause and liability, detect fraud, and most importantly provide an even better service to their customers.”
Skerrett referenced that over 1700 Carrot customers have benefited from telematics data being used in this way when they have been involved in an accident: “there are many examples of claims handlers at leading insurers using Trak Global; an example of that is when the Carrot Risk Management Team were notified that a customer had come off the road in a rural location in the middle of the night. They were able to quickly notify both her father and the emergency services and let them know she was OK. A simple use of the data, but a very valuable one to the Carrot customer and her family.”
Street commented “I’ve joined Trak Global at an exciting time to work with the internal team, our insurance partners, and a number of research organisations and road safety institutions, as part of a major investment into telematics accident detection, including low speed impacts.”
He added “Working with our partners, we will leverage a scientific and research-based approach to continually develop our range of telematics solutions. In addition, we are seeking to bring to market the first approved aftermarket e-Call device. We believe this product will reinforce Trak Global’s reputation for industry-leading accident detection and claims interrogation services.”
