IMS Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy applies to the following websites that are operated by IMS: www.ims.tech and www.drivesync.com (the “IMS Corporate Sites”) and provides you with information about the cookies used on the IMS Corporate Sites. Choosing to continue accessing or using an IMS Corporate Site without disabling cookies indicates your consent to our use of cookies in accordance with this Cookie Policy. This Cookie Policy may be modified from time to time by IMS.

What are Cookies?

Cookies are pieces of data or files that may be downloaded or stored on your computer or other internet enabled devices (such as smartphones or tablets) when you visit a website. Cookies generally contain the website name and a unique user ID and do not identify email addresses or other personally identifiable information. Cookies are then sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit to that site, or to another website that recognizes the cookie. As soon as a cookie has been placed on your computer, the website will acknowledge that you have been there before, which can help tailor the web experience.

Cookies Used on IMS Corporate Sites

Cookies used by IMS can be classified as either “session” or “persistent” cookies. Session cookies are temporary cookies that are deleted from your computer after you leave a website. Persistent cookies are cookies that remain on your computer for a longer period of time. Persistent cookies are used by IMS to recognize you when you visit our website, remember your preferences and enable a personalized experience.

Further distinction can be made between first and third party cookies, which are both used on the IMS Corporate Sites. First party cookies are placed by the IMS Corporate Site you are visiting. Third party cookies are placed by a domain other than the IMS Corporate Site being visited.

The types of cookies used on the IMS Corporate Sites may also be categorized based on the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) UK Cookie Guide, available at the following link: http://www.iccwbo.org/about-icc/policy-commissions/digital-economy/. The categories identified by the guide are: 1) strictly necessary cookies, 2) performance cookies, 3) functionality cookies and 4) targeting or advertising cookies.

IMS uses third party advertising networks (including LinkedIn) that place targeting or advertising cookies on your browser, which collect information about your browsing habits in order to customize the advertisements you see when you visit other websites. These third party advertising networks may use web logs or web beacons, and may set and access cookies on your computer or device to help them to monitor the effectiveness of the ads and to make the ads more relevant to you based on your browsing behaviour. Details on third party cookies are subject to the applicable third party’s privacy policies.

In order to obtain information on visitor use of the IMS Corporate Sites and provide you with a better experience, we also use Google Analytics and LeadLander to help us analyze site traffic and identify areas of improvement.

Managing Your Cookies

Most internet browsers accept cookies by default, but will usually allow you to delete, block or receive alerts when cookies are being placed on your computer. These settings are usually found in the options or preferences menu of your internet browser. If you use multiple devices you will need to ensure that each browser on each device reflects your cookie preferences.

Opting Out

You may opt-out of IMS’s use of cookies using one of the following methods:

  • Change your browser settings to refuse cookies or to alert you when a cookie is being placed on your computer
  • Delete or block browser cookies using the settings in your browser
  • To opt out of Google Analytics, download and install the add-on for your web browser. For more information, visit the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en
